Sewer Gas Leak & Camera Inspection – Salvisa, KY 40372

August 25th, 2026 Recent Work
Sewer inspection camera screen revealing a cracked PVC sanitary tee hidden inside a wall cavity.

Smelling sewer gas inside your home is more than an unpleasant odor—it’s a clear sign that wastewater methane is bypassing your home’s trap system. Because drain and vent pipes are buried behind drywall, finding the exact source of a leak without tearing up half your house takes precision technology.

Customer Issue A homeowner in Salvisa kept smelling faint sewer gas near their laundry area. There were no visible water leaks on the floor or under the sink, making the origin a complete mystery.

What We Did Our team deployed our diagnostic sewer camera down the vent stack to locate the failure without guessing. The camera screen pinpointed a cracked PVC sanitary tee concealed directly inside the wall cavity. They made a surgical drywall cut, removed the fractured fitting, and rebuilt the section using a heavy-duty shielded coupling, new PVC pipe, and fresh couplings. While on-site, the homeowner asked us to check their water pressure; we adjusted their existing Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) from a sluggish 49 PSI to a sweet-spot 55 PSI.

Result The wall cavity was restored with zero sewer gas leakage, and the homeowner gained noticeably better water pressure across all household fixtures.

Why It Matters Pipes inside walls don’t usually break on their own, but vertical stacks set against exterior brick or unbraced framing face constant stress. Structural settling, improper joist support, thermal expansion, or a misplaced nail during drywall hanging can cause rigid PVC fittings to shear under tension over time. A sewer camera lets us find these hidden fractures immediately, keeping drywall damage to a minimum.

Fixing water pressure is just as vital. Ideal residential water pressure sits between 50 and 70 PSI. Pressure below 50 PSI feels weak in the shower, while pressure above 80 PSI damages appliance valves, wears out faucet cartridges, and threatens pipe joints.

DIY vs Licensed Plumber Residential Plumbing Installation – Mackville, KY 40040

August 24th, 2026 Recent Work
Apron-front farm sink installation showing PEX lines, tailpiece drain, and dishwasher discharge hose connection.

Taking on a major plumbing trim-out yourself sounds like a great weekend money-saver. But if the nearest big-box home improvement store is a 40-minute drive each way, one missing adapter quickly turns a fun project into a multi-day ordeal.

Customer Issue A full trim-out required setting fixtures across the entire house—kitchen, bathrooms, utility room, and exterior water access. Doing this via DIY usually means spending 12 hours on labor, 6 hours watching YouTube, 3 separate supply runs, and buying specialty tools you’ll only use once.

What We Did Our team rolled up in a fully stocked truck and completed the entire installation in just 4 hours. They hooked up the farmhouse kitchen sink, dishwasher drain, and double vanity, installed matte black shower trim, set the toilet, mounted a frost-free hose bibb, and wired a new Reliance electric water heater with an expansion tank to absorb thermal pressure spikes.

Result The home gained fully operational, code-compliant plumbing with clean visual installs, reliable water pressure control, and zero leaks—all finished by lunchtime.

Why It Matters Plumbing isn’t just turning wrenches; it’s understanding system mechanics. Proper thermal expansion tanks protect your water heater tank from internal pressure stress. Cleanly glued PVC P-traps stop sewer gas from leaking into living areas. Professional installation gives you long-term peace of mind using commercial-grade sealant and exact press fittings that won’t give out in three months.

Quality Plumbing Even in a Crawl Space – Frankfort, KY 40601 Remodel

August 21st, 2026 Recent Work
Tight crawl space view showing multiple PVC drain branches secured to joists with metal perforated strapping.

Plumbing isn’t always glamorous, but what lives under your floorboards matters far more than what sits on top of them. Behind every pristine bathroom layout is the dirty, high-stakes work of designing a waste system that drains silently and lasts for generations.

Customer Issue During a complete house renovation we’re part of in Frankfort, the home’s layout was being entirely reworked. The upper levels required multiple new fixtures, but down below, the crawl space offered a tight clearance and no existing infrastructure to support modern Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) requirements.

What We Did Our team took on the grit work under the house. They secured every branch line using heavy-duty metal strapping to maintain proper slope and eliminate pipe movement. Upstairs, they engineered a custom loop-vent design around window framing, systematically bringing all waste lines down into the crawl space to converge neatly into a single main line out of the structure.

Result A solid, code-conscious DWV system that will run quietly, stay correctly sloped, and routes cleanly without sacrificing structural integrity or living space.

Why It Matters Ever hear pipes bang or water sloshing in the wall when you drain a tub? That comes from improper strapping and sagging lines. Securing pipes at strict intervals prevents water hammer, stops waste from settling in low spots, and keeps sewer gases safely isolated. Safely navigating low crawl spaces takes physical sweat, but it guarantees your system won’t leak or clog down the road.

Here to Help Huge shoutout to Trenton and Wyatt for the hard work on this one! If you’re tackling a total remodel in Frankfort (40601) or anywhere across Central Kentucky, leave the sweat work to us. Check out our Plumbing Services page and call Right There Plumbing today!

Gas Water Heater Flue Venting – Lexington, KY 40507

August 20th, 2026 Recent Work
Double-wall B-vent flue line elbow connection routed from a Rheem gas water heater in the basement up through floor joists.

Proper gas water heater installation is about more than just hooking up pipes. Exhausting combustion gases safely out of the home requires good engineering, correct pitch, and adherence to code clearance requirements.

Customer Issue During a home renovation project in Lexington, the general contractor needed a dedicated flue pipe system installed for a newly placed gas water heater in the basement. The home had no existing viable chimney, requiring a clean route through living spaces to the roof.

What We Did Our team designed and installed a continuous double-wall B-vent chimney system. It goes above the roofline, with an aluminum rain cap, storm collar, and roof flashing down into the attic, navigating framing with offset elbows supported by heavy-duty metal strapping. From there, the pipe is routed down through a dedicated first-floor closet wall chase, securing it through the basement ceiling joists before connecting directly to the gas water heater draft hood.

Result A fully sealed, mechanically supported gas exhaust system that drafts smoothly, meets local Lexington building codes, and keeps toxic fumes safely out of the living envelope.

Why It Matters Natural gas combustion produces carbon monoxide and moisture. Without a continuous, properly pitched vent, flue gases can spill back into the basement or living spaces. Using double-wall pipe makes it where gases rise quickly, while providing required air-space clearance to wood framing to eliminate any fire risks.

Here to Help Kudos to David and Everett for a clean, code-compliant install! If you’re remodeling or upgrading gas appliances in Lexington (40507) or across Central Kentucky, trust us for safe, reliable work. Check out our Plumbing Services page and contact Right There Plumbing today.

Older Home Remodel and Plumbing Overhaul – Frankfort, KY 40601

August 19th, 2026 Recent Work
A cool part of this rough-in stage was engineering a proper loop-vent design—a smart, code-conscious solution that routes air back into the waste system where traditional vertical roof vents aren't an option, keeping lines hidden while protecting airflow.

When you take on a full-house renovation, you might step back in time. Opening up these walls revealed beautiful original redwood framing—a mark of mid-century craft when homes were built to last – but plumbing relied on old galvanized lines and unvented, slow-draining layouts that simply don’t fly today.

Customer Issue This complete Frankfort home overhaul required a total plumbing reset. The original build lacked modern Drain, Waste, and Vent (DWV) design, which meant sluggish drainage, potential siphonage, and no way to support an updated, multi-fixture floor plan safely without bringing the entire home up to current code.

What We Did Our crew gutted the old infrastructure from the ground up. We jackhammered concrete for new subterranean P-traps, opened ceiling joists, and replaced the old network with clean PVC.

Why It Matters A cool part of this rough-in stage was engineering a proper loop-vent design—a smart, code-conscious solution that routes air back into the waste system where traditional vertical roof vents aren’t an option, keeping lines hidden while protecting airflow. Think of a loop vent like blowing air through a straw with a hole in the side—it keeps the vacuum from pulling liquid out of your P-traps. Back when this home was built with that rich redwood lumber, plumbers didn’t have modern venting codes which can lead to dry traps and sewer gas issues over time. Loop vents fix that long-term without ruining architectural layout.

Here to Help Big thanks to Trenton, Wyatt, David, and Everett for putting in the work so far on this total house overhaul! Whether you’re restoring a historic gem or building new in Frankfort (40601) or anywhere in Central Kentucky, let us get your pipes done right. PEX Water Line Rough-In – Bardstown, KY 40004

August 15th, 2026 Recent Work
Shower rough-in framing showing red and blue PEX lines connected to a brass mixing valve with PVC vent.

While older homes rely on rigid copper, modern builds use flexible, high-durability PEX water supply lines.  Unlike copper, PEX expands slightly if frozen, protecting against burst pipes. The red and blue colors distinguish hot and cold supply lines instantly.

Also on this multi-story build in Bardstown, we’ve had a prior article showing the drain systems.  However, PEX carries pressurized (supply side) water directly to fixtures.

PEX requires skilled installation to get correct crimp tension, proper bend radiuses, and expansion spacing to prevent water hammer noise. Hiring a licensed plumber guarantees code compliance and long-term durability.
